As Head of Learning\u00a0Support and SEN Department\u00a0at Egypt British International School, I would like to offer you a very warm welcome!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Egypt British International School is committed to providing an appropriate and high-quality education to every child who attends the school. We believe that all children, including those identified as having special educational needs, have an entitlement to a broad and balanced academic and social curriculum.
Our predominant aim is to provide specialist, tailored programs and provisions to help address individual learning needs for all of our children. The Support Department has experienced many new and exciting developments and has expanded considerably.
The Learning\u00a0Support and SEN Department\u00a0maintains liaison with all staff members. This ensures that all members of staff are fully aware of the graduated response the school has in place and the school expectations regarding proficient delivery of the SEN provision.
The school recognizes that the liaison with parents of children with SEN also has an integral part in the child\u2019s educational progress and the effectiveness of any school-based action. Parents should have an active and valued role in their child\u2019s education. Every child\u2019s progress is reviewed regularly and parents are invited to be involved at every stage.
Here at EBIS, we have a dynamic support team with varying responsibilities and specialisms; including Support Coordinator, SEN Coordinator, academic support teachers, SEN support teachers, school Psychologists and school Counselor, all of which deliver individualized programs.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    Our Intervention Programmes
    <\/u><\/strong>The Learning\u00a0Support and SEN Department offers many alternative intervention programmes depending on our pupils\u2019 needs. We deliver a variety of individual, small group and in-class support sessions starting at EYFS level and continuing through to our KS3 pupils.
    Our intervention programmes range from the following:

    EBIS has established a specialized support provision to all pupils who require a differentiated approach to the mainstream teaching and learning methodology. \u00a0
    The Learning Support Department offers a learning environment where the adult: child ratio is low and is enriched with multi-sensory resources to address multi-discipline teaching and learning styles. We have achieved inclusion for all by expertly planning and developing our\u00a0teaching styles and individual approaches. The National Curriculum is adapted to accommodate the individual needs of children within the Primary and Secondary phase. All pupils on the support register receive an engaging, highly differentiated but equally challenging curriculum according to their individual needs.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    The main aims of the Learning Support and SEN Department are:\u00a0
    <\/strong>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0To provide a learning environment with a\u00a0variety of learning experiences<\/b>\u00a0which are geared towards enabling each pupil to experience success in a\u00a0happy, caring and secure environment.
    <\/b>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0To provide access for every pupil to a\u00a0broad and balanced curriculum<\/b>\u00a0which is suitably adapted and\u00a0modified to their age and ability level.
    \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0To\u00a0shape and plan the teaching<\/b>\u00a0of the curriculum to be\u00a0responsive to individual needs\u00a0<\/b>and minimize the effects of any impairments to learning.
    \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0To give specific,\u00a0specialized support<\/b>\u00a0to all aspects of development, in order to help each individual pupil progress to\u00a0a greater degree of independence<\/b>.\u00a0Such support will include a multi-disciplinary approach where appropriate.
    \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0To\u00a0nurture children\u2019s self-esteem and confidence.<\/b>\u00a0To also encourage good manners, behaviour, respect, and tolerance of others.
    \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0To encourage a\u00a0close partnership<\/b>\u00a0with parents and other professionals involved with the\u00a0child\u2019s needs.
    <\/b>Here at EBIS, we are proud to demonstrate that as dedicated educators, we also recognize the necessity to provide opportunities for our most able and higher attaining pupils.\u00a0They are one of the groups\u00a0identified in the Ofsted framework and as a school, we aim to ensure that \u2018teaching engages and includes all pupils, with work that is challenging enough and that meets their individual needs, including for the ablest pupils\u2019<\/b>
