EYFS introduction
Dear Parents
I would like to extend a warm welcome to the Foundation Stage at Egypt British International School.
Here the children have a wonderful opportunity to learn and thrive in an environment which is safe and secure and tailored to their needs, an environment which nourishes their curious and creative natures. This critical stage in children’s education lays the foundations for all future learning. This is a crucial time in their social, emotional and academic development.
Social Skills are a very important part of a child’s development, during the Foundation Stage we encourage children to interact with each other to make friends, take turns and learn to share while having fun.
The principles of the Foundation Stage emphasise on the ‘unique child’ approach. Every child is an individual possessing different needs, skills and talents and it is the school’s responsibility to build upon these and develop them to achieve the best possible outcome for each child. We are fully committed to developing a ‘unique’, independent and confident child. Children are encouraged to make choices and self-selection is a very important part of our day to day learning in the Foundation stage. Our teaching is planned to incorporate the Seven Areas of Learning to ensure that children reach all the objectives and mile stones set out for them within the ‘Development Matters’ document.
Our teachers plan their teaching to incorporate the Seven Areas of Learning into our daily activities. Children are encouraged to play and explore, they are encouraged to become creative learners and critical thinkers. These simple yet crucial skills allow children to develop into confident and well motivated learners.
Here at EBIS we are extremely lucky to be able to offer specialist lessons in Arabic, P.E., Art, Music and Library. This provides a perfect opportunity for children to benefit from our experienced specialist staff who provide an opportunity for further skills to develop.
Kindest Regards
Suzanne Haldar
